HYDERABAD: A blasphemy case was registered at the Khanot police station on Thursday against four persons, including two women, involved in a Nikah that was performed a few days back allegedly by a woman under what was described as `Shariat-i-Latifi`.
The FIR (No. 22/17) was registered under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of ASI Bashir Ahmed Janwari of the Khanot police station on the basis of a video clip that went viral on social media.
The video shows a man, who is a Sindhi nationalist and follower of great Sufi Saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, getting the Nikah of his daughter performed by a woman, and declares that it is being solemnised under `Shariat-i-Latifi`.
Besides the man, his daughter, the woman who performs the Nikah and groom have been named in the FIR.
The activist was arrested by the Jamshoro police on Thursday and his 14-day judicial remand was obtained from a court, which sent him to the Nara jail.
